During training to become a private pilot you want to make sure that you gather all the information that’s going to support your training that you possibly can. No doubt you have picked out a good school to take your training at. It never hurts to have more information than what you need. You can check out the credentials of the school by asking those that have graduated and even those that are still in the program. If you get good positive feedback then you should be happy with your choice of taking your training at this particular school. There’s lots of things that you’re going to want to remember when it comes time for that all-important final exam. It’s not uncommon to become mute to the point that you don’t verbalize to anyone your anxiety. Its almost like you have gone into a cocoon. This is something you don’t want to do because the first thing it does is send a warning signals to the individual that’s testing you that you are not feeling comfortable and confident.
Of course it’s natural before an exam to have the butterflies in the stomach. It’s no different when it comes to flying. Just remember this that you are the one that is sitting in the pilot’s seat and you are the one that is in control. Keep your confidence level because you have been passing all the way through your course or you wouldn’t be sitting in the pilot’s seat. Don’t allow yourself to become intimidated just from the fact that you have a flight examiner with you.
Don’t doubt all of the hours that you have spent in your training and the good marks that you have received. You have reached this point because you have been successful in your studies and now is not the time for self doubt.
Make sure that you are well prepared and don’t take this test lightly or figure that it is just a matter of ceremony. It is an extremely important test and if you hope to get your pilot’s license then you better be sure that you are going to pass this test and pass it well.
You will have plenty of warning when your final flight is coming up for your exam. Make sure that prior to it such as the night before that you get a good nights rest and it certainly isn’t a night to go out partying. If for any reason you do not feel confident to be able to do the tasks required in the exam then simply let the examiner know. It would be better to have it rescheduled then get to a point where you’re for some reason not going to pass,
What you are trying to portray here is that you are a professional although a private pilot. Nevertheless you are earning the title as the pilot and you need to conduct yourself accordingly during your final exam.
